INSTRUCTIONS FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSIONS:
Please note that ALL abstracts will be accepted for poster presentations. The data presented should be non-published. As abstracts will be included in the meeting program which will be displayed on the website, please be sure to have the permission of all persons/laboratories involved to publicize your work in association with this meeting. Please be sure to check the boxes to confirm these criteria on the abstract form.
ABSTRACT TEMPLATE

Abstracts must be typed in Arial (11 pt.) and formatted as follows (see template):

Submit abstract electronically at https://www.wintereicosanoid.org/abstract-submission/ and/or by e-mailing it to gail_anderson@nymc.edu as a pdf file attachment and with subject heading.
"WEC 2023 Abstract – your name - name of category”.

Poster Displays: The size of the poster boards are 3’ 8” high by 5’ 6” wide. Please plan your posters accordingly to fit the boards. Pushpins will be provided. You will be notified of the date and time of your poster presentation when all abstracts have been received and have been assigned a category.

Awards

A number of awards will be made available to help defray costs for attending the 19th International Winter Eicosanoid Conference for junior investigators, postdoctoral fellows and students. Abstracts submitted for the meeting will be evaluated by the Awards Committee. Eligibility criteria are listed below. If you are eligible to compete for one or multiple award(s), please choose the award(s) at the bottom of the abstract page. Recipients of all awards must attend the entire meeting. All abstracts eligible for an award must be submitted by the deadline, August 31, 2023 (with the exception of the Poster Awards).

Poster Awards:

Awards will be given for the best poster presentation in the poster categories (some categories will be combined based on the number of abstracts submitted in each category). The poster categories are: 1) Brain 2) Cancer 3) Cardiovascular 4) Efferocytosis 5) Lipidomics 6) Lung 7) Metabolic Syndrome 8) Resolutions of Inflammation 9) sEH Inhibitors. Eligibility criteria: the presenting author must be: 1) a student (undergraduate or graduate) or 2) postdoctoral fellow. If the presenting author is eligible and would like the poster to be considered in the poster award competition, choose “Poster Award” at the bottom of the abstract page. The presenter must agree to be present in front of his/her poster for the duration of the assigned poster session. If the presenting author has submitted more than one abstract, only one can be selected for inclusion in the poster competition. Poster presentations will be judged on the following: 1) overall poster layout and style 2) hypothesis, significance, conclusions 3) presentation (discussion/Q&A).

NIEHS and Other Travel Awards:

These awards are funded by NIEHS and are based on the scientific merit of the data presented in the abstracts. Eligibility criteria: the presenting author must be: 1) a student (undergraduate or graduate) or 2) a postdoctoral fellow or 3) an early-stage investigator (Instructors & Assistant Professors, not more than 5 years as an independent investigator, who are not PI on a R01 or equivalent grant at the time of submission). If the presenting author is eligible and would like the poster to be considered for a travel award, choose “Travel Award” at the bottom of the abstract page.

POLM Young Investigator Award:

These awards are funded by Elsevier, publisher of the journal, Prostaglandins and Other Lipid Mediators. These awards are based on the scientific merit of the data presented in your abstracts. Eligibility criteria: the presenting author must be: 1) a graduate student or 2) a postdoctoral fellow or 3) an early-stage investigator (Instructors & Assistant Professors, not more than 5 years as an independent investigator, who are not PI on a R01 or equivalent grant at the time of submission). If the presenting author is eligible and would like the poster to be considered for a POLM YI award, choose “POLM YI Award” at the bottom of the abstract page. In addition to the poster presentation, recipients of this award are required to give a short presentation (10 min talk; 5-min discussion) during the meeting. If the presenting author gives an oral presentation, he/she may opt out of presenting the poster. Awardees are also required to submit a paper for the Special Issue of Prostaglandins and Other Lipid Mediators which will include papers based on the talks at the 19th International Winter Eicosanoid Conference.
